Helping. I care because it is who I am. I see counselling as a privilege and my occu-passion.
Letting clients tell me what is important to them and what they need. Helping them to make sense of their situations and working out options for moving forward has been effective.
Each approach has value and is helpful. Each person and situation is different and exploring the method that works best is helpful in supporting each person, couple or family uniqueness.
Listening and sitting alongside people as they explain their situations. It may be the first time you feel that someone understands what you are going through and that you can talk openly about anything you want to.
That I will never judge anything you say or do. I will always show you respect and dignity. I believe that the past does have an impact upon each of us but that our future is determined by exploring the choices we have today.
Healthy and happy relationships don’t just happen. They need intentional effort. It is important to communicate our relationship needs and whether we can meet the needs of others. We cannot read minds. We need to find a place of safety where others can express their needs as I express mine.
