People! I find them so interesting. I love finding out what makes a person tick; why they are the way they are. I enjoy helping clients to identify what isn’t working in their lives, while also assisting them to recognise strengths they have, that they may have overlooked.
Warm, genuine, curious, supportive and encouraging. Genuine care and humility are very important qualities that I believe I bring towards my work.
Spotting patterns that may be causing you grief in your life, my years of doing this have enabled me to identify these, and I continue to hone this skill.
I used to be a journalist before I retrained as a counsellor over 11 years ago. So I love words and am naturally curious about people. I get lots of clues from the words people use to describe themselves, and I think often we limit ourselves with old and unhelpful definitions.
Nothing beats that feeling of knowing someone has your back. Aim for that, and don’t accept anything less.
Being outdoors, preferably near the sea. I am also a fan of good wine and great food. I love reading, listening to music and spending time with the people I love. I can also get hooked on Netflix at times.
